You can’t go far alone

Ecclesiastics 4:7-12

INTRODUCTION

Loneliness is a slow poison that kills faster than we can imagine. Research has linked social isolation and loneliness to high risks for a variety of physical and mental conditions – high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, weakened immune system, anxiety, depression and even death have all been linked to loneliness and social isolation. God created us for relationship and fellowship. We are meant to mingle and belong, so you cannot life your life all by yourself. You need people around you, though, not every Tom, Dick and Harry.

Some people call them

(i) God sent helper

(ii) destiny helpers

(iii) divine helper

(iv) game-changers.

Whatever they are called we need certain people in and around our lives to get us to that place God had ordained for our lives. After all, someone said “Manna only falls from heaven when you have someone at the top showering it down on you “. Let’s quickly look at a few of them

TYPES OF PEOPLE YOU NEED

  1. Help meets: for people that are married, your help meet is the first and best help meet is your spouse. Gen. 2:18
  2. Checkers: They know the rules of the game and challenge you once you are deviating, critiquing your actions and bringing you to your sense or back on track. – Paul & Peter Galatians 2:11-13; Acts 17:23
  3. Balancer/Mentor: Jethro & Moses – Exodus 18; Moses & Joshua – Deuteronomy 31 & 34; Elizabeth & Mary – Luke 1
  4. Committed and dedicated friends – Ruth & Naomi (Ruth 1:16-17); David & Jonathan (1 Samuel 18:1-3)
  5. Squad/team: like people always say, “if you want to go fast, go alone, but if you want to go far, go with others”. Carrying persons along in getting a goal will help one achieve more. Gen. 1:26; Jesus had a team (70 or 72; 12) & Mark 6:7-13 (He sent them out in teams of 2)

CONCLUSION:

There is great need to pay attention to these persons and their role in your life. Of course, all you need is just one man to change your story, but in summary, the Ultimate helper is God. Our anchor text Ecclesiastics 4:7-12 outlined a summary of the importance of men in our life, team work, etc. Hence the need for God sent helpers can never be over emphasized.
